Mama Luigi

Character Description

This version of Luigi comes from the Super Mario Bros. cartoons. Unlike the real Luigi, Mama Luigi has a more original moveset. The "Mama" part of his name comes from the Super Mario World cartoon, when Yoshi calls Luigi "mama" after hatching him from his egg in the episode, Mama Luigi.

Trophy Description

Is that Luigi? That's Mama Luigi to you, player! Being a mother has totally exhausted his physical shape, but awarded him awesome talents non-mothers don't have. With his maternal instincts, he can send "a little baby" to sleep in no time, and he has practiced so much with his bed-time stories, that they now come to life. And the chiseling of stones to footballs, another obvious talent every mother has. If he's lucky enough, he can ride a dolphin and use his baby Yoshi to swallow, digest, and make them know how a meatball feels. Well, like they say in Brooklyn, early to bed, early to catch the Smash Ball... or is it the bagel?

Standard special	Stone or Football	Mama Luigi pulls out a chiseled football (from The Yoshi Shuffle), boasts about it, and throws it. If it hits an opponent the first time, it can inflict further damage while shattering.
Side special	Maternal Sleep	Mama Luigi puts an opponent to sleep. It can bypass shields too.
Up special	Magic Balloon	Mama Luigi puffs into a balloon and floats in the air. A slower clone of Wings of Icarus with the ability to reflect all kinds of projectiles. (from Mama Luigi)
Down special	Fire Sumo	A Fire Sumo appears next to Mama Luigi and stomps towards the direction it's facing, shooting flames. If stomping on a soft platform, it can rain fire downward.
Final Smash	Secret Weapon	Luigi jumps onto a flying dolphin while carrying a baby Yoshi, with the dolphin hurting a nearby opponent.

Role in The Subspace Emissary

Mama Luigi first appears in the Subspace Emissary in the Forest stage, where he puts Yoshi to sleep. (This was based from an actual cutscene in Brawl's adventure mode, when Yoshi was sleeping on a stump.) He gets trophied by a cannonball fired from two Primids, who escape as Link is about to retrieve the Master Sword. The trophy flies off into a valley, where the real Luigi revives his cartoon counterpart. Humorously, Luigi and Mama Luigi run away in different directions! Mama Luigi gets trophied again, this time by Dr. Robotnik. He remains in this state while being imprisoned.

Mama Luigi does appear as a cameo later in the Lost Woods. But you can BRIEFLY see the trophy of him flying west after Dr. Robotnik's Eggmobile blows up by I.M. Meen's Meen Magic.

Snake Codec

Snake: This guy looks just like Luigi...

Otacon: That's Mama Luigi to you, Snake! He may look like Luigi but he's got more epic moves. He can fly using a magic balloon. And he also has the ability to chisel footballs. On top of that, he can use his Yoshi plow to plow you.

Snake: You didn't tell me he was bringing a secret weapon...

Otacon: That'd be his baby son Yoshi. He's got a powerful stomach that lets him swallow and digest anything. He loves to eat long animals, like caterpillars or Snakes...

Snake: Huh? Was it something I said? Otacon! Wherever you are! HEEEEEEEEEALP!
